On the 18th of September, we had the privilege of hosting a workshop in collaboration with Oekozenter Paffendal, aimed at inspiring our partners to embrace eco-responsibility through thee Green Business Events (GBE) initiative.
The morning opened with a welcome from the President of the Luxembourg Convention Bureau, followed by Oekozenter Paffendal’s introduction to the project, setting a strong foundation for our journey toward more sustainable practices.
In a dynamic round-table discussion, participants explored the practical application of this project across various local companies over recent months. The shared testimonials underscored the positive impact of integrating sustainability into events and highlighted how eco-friendly practices are making a meaningful difference in Luxembourg’s business event landscape.
Katherine Miller from the Administration des services techniques de l’agriculture provided insights into upcoming regulatory changes around BIO certification, offering valuable information to guide our partners’ practices in the months ahead.
The second half of the morning saw participants dive into a collaborative brainstorming session to address some of the key challenges facing the catering industry in the context of business events. Together, they identified four main issues and worked on solutions and improvements.
Given the success of this workshop, additional sessions will be organized for LCB partners on a variety of topics, including:
- Managing no-shows and reducing food waste
- Reducing the environmental footprint of events
- Calculating the carbon footprint of events
- Eco-labels and sustainable initiatives that hotels can implement
- Developing synergies between suppliers/producers and restaurateurs
We extend a heartfelt thank you to all our participants and speakers: Anne-Sophie Preud'homme, Stéphanie Bour-Reicher, Savéria Eyer, and Julien Cliquet.
Together, let’s take bold steps forward and lead the way as pioneers of change!
